Seat L (Environmental)
The RRC is governed by a 15-member Board of Directors composed of independent and balanced stakeholder representatives. One of the stakeholder classes is designated for “exempt organizations as defined under Internal Revenue Code § 501(c) representing electricity consumers who advocate for the reduction of environmentally harmful greenhouse gas emissions and/or other environmental concerns regarding the Railbelt electric system.” This class is represented by the voting and alternate directors holding Seat L.
Currently, both the voting and alternate directors for Seat L are members of the Renewable Energy Alaska Project (REAP). The current three-year term for Seat L will expire in December 2025.
The RRC Governance Committee is in the process of forming the Seat L constituency group. Members of this group will be able to:
- Nominate candidates for the Seat L voting and alternate director positions
- Vote in the selection process
- Help shape the direction of electric reliability and environmental priorities in the Railbelt region
The group may also choose to meet periodically to discuss relevant issues, provide feedback to their Board representative, and engage in other public process opportunities.
If the organization you represent is interested in joining the Seat L constituency group, please contact info@akrrc.org by June 16, 2025.
